The Royal Mail Hotel has been an icon of the borough of Sebastopol since it was first established in 1866 during the gold-digging era. As the last tram stop along the route for the town of Ballarat and the final destination of the very last tram in 1971, it has always been a hub of the local area, with strong and loyal community support. Located on a major highway at the outskirts of Ballarat, it is also a welcome stop for hungry & thirsty travellers.

In 2023, Harrison Blomeley and Scott Carter, two proud Sebastopol locals with deep family ties to the area, took ownership of the historic Royal Mail Hotel. Determined to preserve its legacy as a cornerstone of the community since 1866, Harri and Scott are committed to honouring the pub’s rich history while bringing fresh ideas to ensure it thrives for generations to come.
For Harri and Scott, the RMH is more than just a business—it’s a part of their personal stories. Scott grew up across the road, with his great-uncle as a former owner. Harri’s family history with the pub runs equally deep, with relatives who lived nearby and his own early career spent working at the venue. Taking ownership fulfills Harri’s lifelong dream and solidifies the pair’s dedication to maintaining the pub’s unique charm and strong community focus.
Harri and Scott are committed to honoring the Royal Mail’s rich history while introducing thoughtful updates to keep it vibrant. The main bar, lounge, and bistro retain their traditional charm, but enhancements such as a revamped alfresco and beer garden area add new ways for patrons to enjoy the space. The pub continues to serve its popular classic dishes while offering a fresh take on modern favorites and an evolving drinks menu, including local wines and spirits.
